Reduction of occupational risks and training to improve the safety culture are among the main benefits
TCP, the company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal, was awarded ISO 45001 certification in March this year, reinforcing its commitment to occupational health and safety, working to identify the risks associated with work and adopting preventive measures to avoid them. The Terminal also has ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certifications.
Kayo Zaiats, TCP’s health, safety and environment manager, points out that receiving this certification was a significant milestone: “We implement regular safety training, emergency procedures and periodic audits to ensure a healthy and safe working environment for everyone. We have created a culture of safety among employees, in which all processes are continually evaluated and improved to eliminate or minimize hazards and risks.”
Care for the environment
The ISO 14001 certification attests to the effective system for controlling the environmental impacts of the operation, covering aspects such as energy consumption, atmospheric emissions, waste management and the use of natural resources. TCP was one of the first companies in Brazil to implement an Environmental Management System certified by the ABNT Standard, almost 20 years ago.
“Our terminal has very well-defined social and environmental policies. In addition to controlling our emissions, we also promote environmental education for our employees through training, lectures, campaigns and regular events, such as the Internal Environment Week (SIMA), the Environmental Rowing, the training of environmental agents, and awareness-raising actions such as Arbor Day, World Car Free Day, among others,” says Zaiats.
These actions have strengthened ties with the community in Paranaguá, increasing trust and collaboration with local environmental initiatives. Last year, this commitment was recognized with the Top-Of-Mind award in the sustainable company category, consolidating TCP’s position as a responsible operator in the port sector.
Quality management and business continuity
The Terminal has also been ISO 9001 certified since 2003. This certification attests to TCP’s strategic and operational efficiency, ensuring the highest quality standards in our processes to meet the needs and expectations of our customers and stakeholders, reaffirming our commitment to business continuity and continuous process improvement.
Washington Renan Bohnn, TCP’s human resources and quality manager, emphasizes: “We understand that customer focus is essential, which has driven us to improve our interaction and collect constructive feedback. Over the years, we have implemented a number of changes, especially in standardizing processes and cultivating a collective mentality aimed at business development and delivering better results.”
Together, these certifications establish TCP as an organization committed to safe, sustainable and quality practices, promoting not only compliance, but also continuous progress on all its fronts.
