With over 20 years of experience in the in the port operations sector, Wang talks about his experience and challenges for his new career
Appointed in February 2024 as the new Chief Operating Officer at the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP), Nicolas Wang brings with him more than 20 years of experience working in the field of port operations. Responsible for Operations (OPS), Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Maintenance (M&R), and Logistics (LOG) sectors, Wang has a long trajectory within CMPort, the Chinese multinational that manages TCP.
He began his career in 2003 at the CMPort’s flagship terminal, the Shekou Container Terminal (SCT), in Shenzhen, China, where he held positions as planner, duty manager, and eventually reaching the position of operations supporting manager. “I have grown step by step, from grassroots to management. My solid business skills and good team awareness will help me to solve various difficulties in the future.”
In 2018, Wang assumed to the position of Operations Manager at TCP when CMPort acquired the TCP facility, which he held until February of this year when he is promoted by CMPort as the COO of TCP. During the past five years in TCP, Wang has been engaged in establishing the Safety management regulations and revamping the operational procedures, in parallel, he actively participated in the terminal development design which aims to boost the terminal capacity and productivity.
“TCP has continuously improved its capabilities in recent years and has gradually become an influential terminal on the east coast of South America. In the future, it will further consolidate its position and strive to be a hub port in South America.”
Regarding the main goals of his management, he highlights the need to continue optimizing resource utilization and the operational efficiency of the Terminal. “Our mission is to build an increasingly skilled, united and motivated team, generating an economic impact as an extreme importance for the development in Port of Paranaguá,” he concludes.
