Sustainability

With free admission, visitors can participate in educational activities on the environment and learn more about the biodiversity of Paranaguá.

TCP, the company that manages the Container Terminal of Paranaguá, participates in the 16th Environment Week of the City of Paranaguá, at the Albertina Salmon Arena. The event is free of charge and its theme is “Small attitudes can change the world”. The activities will continue until Saturday (17).

At TCP’s booth, visitors can participate in games and receive gifts from the terminal. This year, the activities are an ecological puzzle, a memory game about recyclable materials, a map to discover the local fauna and drawings of animals to color.

According to the manager of health, work safety and environment, Kayo Zaiats, “it is extremely important to participate in events that bring the community closer to TCP. Including one of our social goals is to support actions that raise awareness about the care of coastal biodiversity and stimulate the sustainable development of Paranaguá.

According to the Municipal Secretariat of Environment, there are 44 stands used by public and private agencies, with exhibitions of work related to the environment. Zaiats explains that “in the Environment Week, we approach the topics about the preservation of native species, the correct destination of residues, and environmental education about biodiversity. These are playful activities, which aim to attract mainly the children who visit the event and are learning about the care of the environment”.

TCP’s environmental actions

Another activity to raise the community’s environmental awareness, carried out by TCP, is the Environmental Rowing. Using kayaks, canoes and stand up paddles (stand up paddles); participants travel the 10km of the Itiberê River collecting waste from the banks, waters and mangrove. From 2018 to 2023, almost 3 tons of waste has already been removed from the river.

In addition to the environmental paddling, TCP has more than 60 socio-environmental actions in progress, such as with a focus on environmental protection and sustainable development of Paranaguá. One of the projects that has taken place since 2015 is the Solidary Exchange, which allows residents to exchange recyclable materials for products from the food basket and personal hygiene. In 2022, the Terminal also contributed to the reform in a community center in Costeira, the construction of a school on Amparo Island and the delivery of 30 houses in indigenous villages in the region.
